1 Leave a comment on paragraph 1 0 The Family Action Section defined its purpose as “to promote effective social action.” Sharon Houseknecht suggested that this Section deal with concerns identified by delegates to the White House Conference on Families as the most important. These issues were Families and Economic Well-Being; Families: Challenges and Responsibilities; Families and Human Need; and Families and Major Institutions.

2 Leave a comment on paragraph 2 0 An open session on “Religion and Families” was held, and a focus group was formed. Another focus group on Work and Family was approved. Two amendments were added to the Constitution. The first amendment made the Treasurer the chair of the Finance Committee, with the President-Elect a committee member. This committee was responsible for any fundraising. The Treasurer would also have a 2-year term. The second amendment allowed for the election of a Program Vice President-Elect, to become Program Vice President a year later.

3 Leave a comment on paragraph 3 0 The Editors were removed from the Board to be represented instead on the Board by the Publications Vice President. The Editors became voting members of the Publications Committee.

4 Leave a comment on paragraph 4 0 A by-laws change was to start in 2 years making it possible for a member, by petition, to become a candidate on the slate of officers for any particular office in any given election. David Klein of Notre Dame University was appointed by Wesley Burr to chair the Public Relations Standing Committee. Lynda Walters became Public Policy Methods Committee Chair.

5 Leave a comment on paragraph 5 0 A new NCFR logo was formally adopted by the Board and membership.
