Sections in 1989–90

1 Leave a comment on paragraph 1 0 Family & Health Section – Shirley Hanson, Chair: Over 160 abstracts submitted for the 1990 program. The section newsletterFamily Health News editors for 90-92 are Linda Ladd and Linda Reece. By-laws were reviewed and updated.

2 Leave a comment on paragraph 2 0 International Section – Karen Altergott, Chair: Sponsored 3 sessions and a panel for the 1990 conference. Held a fund raising activity, and contributed articles to the NCFR Report. Participated in the family research section of the International Sociological Society.

3 Leave a comment on paragraph 3 0 Family Discipline Section – Bill Meredith, Chair: Increased membership by 30%; co-sponsored a “Teaching Family Science“ conference in Indiana; gave a scholarship to a graduate student; working on a code of ethics for family professionals; Prepared a newsletter for section members; deliberating on a name change for the section.

4 Leave a comment on paragraph 4 0 Feminism and Family Studies Section – Karen Polonko, Chair: Coordinated the 1990 program content; published newsletters; developed procedures for mentoring network for FFSS; Feminist Teaching committee activities.

6 Leave a comment on paragraph 6 0 Ethnic Minorities Section – Harlan London, Chair: Expanded section membership. Elected Norma Burgess Chair; provide assistance to universities who wish to advertise in the section newsletter or use the mailing list. And increase the pool of minority applications for various positions in NCFR.
