2 Leave a comment on paragraph 2 0 The 1973 Annual Conference was held at the Four Seasons Sheraton Hotel, Toronto, Canada,  October 16–20. The theme was “Family Style and Personal Freedom.” Lee Axelson was the program chair. Marguerite and Frank Fidler were local arrangements co-chairs. Nine hundred fifty-three persons attended—the largest number to date for the conference. The government of the Province of Ontario sponsored the NCFR reception, held in the Sheraton Grand Lobby Ballroom.

3 Leave a comment on paragraph 3 0 The 1973 pre-conference workshop on Theory Construction was sponsored by the Research and Theory Section. Plenary speakers were William Dyson of the Vanier Institute on the Family, Murray Straus, and Robert Francoeur. The Sections offered programs and the following Task Forces met:  Divorce Reform; Alternative Life Styles; Population and Family Planning; Family Assistance Programs; Rights of the Mentally Handicapped; Women’s Rights and Responsibilities (which held sessions on “Teaching about Women” and “New Family Styles”); A National Family Institute; and Effects of Labor, Industry and Business on the Family.
