Structure and Governance in 2004–05

1 Leave a comment on paragraph 1 0 Linda Malone-Colon, PhD, was appointed by the NCFR Board as Director of the National Healthy Marriage Resource Center, which had been initiated as the result of NCFR’s receipt of the $4.5 million grant from the U.S. Administration of Children and Families under the Department of Health and Human Services. She was based at the NCFR offices in Washington, DC. The research associate who would work with her was Derek Gwinn. Malone-Colon’s assignment was to work on reactivating the Coalition of Family Organizations, which had been very active between 1975 and 1990, and to work with the NCFR Public Policy Committee, on the Public Policy Conference, and with the Department of Labor in the CFLE occupational designation.

2 Leave a comment on paragraph 2 0 On July 25, 2005, Gay Kitson formally resigned as President of NCFR due to serious illness; thus, Pamela Monroe became the Acting President to finish Kitson’s term. Monroe began as Acting President with the June 14 Board meeting. In September, Hurricane hit Louisiana, causing her to miss that Board meeting.
