6 Leave a comment on paragraph 6 0 A new student award was established by Guilford Press. It consisted of a $500 scholarship and a publications contract for the best manuscript judged to be worthy of publication in the Guilford Series Perspectives in Marriage and the Family. The award committee was chaired by Mike Sporakowski.

7 Leave a comment on paragraph 7 0 The Distinguished Service to Families Award was given to the Illusion Theater, founded by Cordelia Anderson in Minneapolis. It dealt with social issues of the time, such as family violence and racial issues.

8 Leave a comment on paragraph 8 0 The Osborne Award was given to Margaret Arcus of the School of Nutritional and Family Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Arcus was a renowned teacher and had edited a history book on family life education.
